Today a group of us went to lobby members of the House Education Committee in regards to HB 2144, Rep. Cook’s bad home school bill. While the bill did not come up today, I can tell you honestly that I believe we are making headway.
Representatives told us they have received calls and emails from home schoolers all over Arkansas; they are hearing our side of this story, but we cannot afford to let up.
Before we post any more caustic emails or letters from school superintendents who oppose home schooling and support Rep. Cook’s bad home school bill, I want to address some of the common misconceptions and misinformation being espoused in these missives.
Today we received a copy of the legislative newsletter published by the Fort Smith School Superintendent, Benny Gooden. The letter makes broad generalizations about Arkansas’ home schoolers, and is intensely supportive of HB 2144, Rep. Cook’s bad home school bill. The letter was sent to legislators last week.
